Greg O’Connell is a new children’s poet, recently published in four issues of the School Journal. Greg is a unique performer, thrilling primary and intermediate audiences by presenting his poems alongside students live on stage.

Focusing on technology, Greg’s live Interactive Poetry Show is crafted so that each and every poem reflects the current experiences of Kiwi kids. Poems about computers, the internet, cell phones, and e-mail all feature in Greg’s high energy one-hour performance. Every minute is a literacy moment for children to hear, see, explore and enjoy. Greg talks about his inspiration for writing and shares with children how he succeeded in becoming a published poet. Above all, his poems celebrate the pure fun of words and the power of imagination.

With the Interactive Poetry Show your school will have more motivated readers and writers, who appreciate the excitement and magic of performance poetry. Your students will love the show and may well announce with fresh enthusiasm ‘Poetry rocks!

Greg O’Connell is revolutionising children’s experience of poetry, introducing a fun new element to the promotion of literacy.
